The Rams were perhaps good enough to win, but fell to the Detroit Lions, 26-20 in overtime, to open the 2024 season at 0-1. LA quarterback Matthew Stafford was productive through the air with 317 yards and a touchdown, and he forged a strong connection early with wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who finished with 14 grabs for 110 yards and a score.
Detroit tied the game with 17 seconds left on a Jake Bates field goal and won it with an 8-play, 70-yard drive capped by a 1-yard TD by David Montgomery.

After a 2023 season full of struggles, the Cardinals walked out of a 34-28 road loss to the Buffalo Bills with at least a little optimism. The Bills came back from 17-3 down to get on the board with a win, but with Kyler Murray’s dual threat skills back at the heart of Arizona’s offense. The Cardinals signal-caller completed 21 of 31 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown and rushed five times for a team-high 57 yards.
