There’s no indication this current heat wave is going to break anytime soon. In fact, it looks like it will get a little hotter as we head into the weekend.
In anticipation of the hotter weather today, an Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for DFW and areas north and east. In these locations, the afternoon heat index could reach 110-112. This is dangerously hot. Please take the necessary heat precautions today and into the weekend.
Sunny, dangerously hot, and dry weather can be expected into the weekend. As the upper-level ridge strengthens overhead toward the weekend, high temperatures will reach around 103-105. Afternoon heat index values could approach 110.
With the dry weather, low relative humidity, and breezy conditions, an elevated fire danger threat will increase to the west of US Highway 281 (Mineral Wells area).
