Team USA Basketball fought off a late comeback attempt from Australia to win its second exhibition game together as the team continues its pre-Olympics showcase schedule.
The United States defeated Canada on Wednesday, 86-72, in the first game of the USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas. They defeated the Australian Boomers, 98-92, on Monday in a game that got close late.
Australia exposed Team USA’s flaws throughout the fourth quarter with a strong defensive effort that forced bad turnovers and missed shots. But clutch shooting down the stretch from Tyrese Haliburton and Devin Booker kept the United States ahead just enough to win the game.
In all, the Team USA roster will have played five games together during the showcase prior to the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics. After its two games in Abu Dhabi, the team will play two more games in London before playing its first group stage game of the Olympics on July 28.
