SYDNEY (TND) — Jack Black’s bandmate made a questionable comment Sunday after the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
Kyle Gass, who plays in “Tenacious D,” told Black his birthday wish was for a future assassin to not miss Trump.
“Make a wish,” Black said after singing happy birthday.
“Don’t miss Trump next time,” Gass replied.
The former president survived an assassination attempt Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania, where he said he was shot in the ear.
A representative for Gass did not immediately reply to a request for comment Monday.
Gass is one of several musicians who reacted to the shooting. 50 Cent posted an edited picture of his album “Get Rich or Die Tryin,’” with Trump’s head attached to the rapper’s body.
“Trump gets shot and now I’m trending,” 50 Cent, whose legal name is Curtis James Jackson III, captioned the image on X.
M.I.A. posted “how do you miss all those shots fired?”
Following the shooting, Trump wrote on Truth Social that “God alone” prevented the “unthinkable” from happening.
“We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness,” he posted.
The former president also urged Americans to unite against “evil.”
“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote.
In an address to the U.S. Sunday night, President Joe Biden said the assassination attempt should compel Americans to tone down their political anger.
“While we may disagree, we are not enemies. We’re neighbors. We’re friends, coworkers, citizens. And, most importantly, we are fellow Americans. And we must stand together,” he asserted. “Yesterday’s shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us to take a step back, take stock of where we are, how we go forward from here.”
