Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis had a huge day against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. While starter James Cook was sidelined with a turf toe injury and Ty Johnson got the start, it was Davis who emerged as the Bills’ big threat.
Davis finished the game with career highs in rushing yards (97) and receiving yards (55), and both numbers happened to lead the Bills on the night. He’s one of just four first-year Bills to notch 95 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards in the same game and the first since Travis Henry in 2001.
He’s the first player to lead the Bills in receiving yards and rushing yards in the same game since Cook did it in 2023. The last Bills’ rookie to do it was in 1986 when Ronnie Harmon did it against the New England Patriots. Harmon’s stats were’t as impressive, though, going for 39 yards on the ground and 36 yards through the air in a blowout Bills loss.
Johnson finished with only 4 carries for a robust 34 yards.
