AYYYY A BIG NFL TRADE! WHEEEE!
The New York Jets decided to reunite Davante Adams with his old pal, Aaron Rodgers, with reports that the franchise was pulling the trigger on a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s big news for Gang Green, who is coming off firing their head coach and a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday.
But what does it mean in fantasy football? Glad you asked. There’s a lot of moving parts here on both the Jets and Raiders. Let’s dive into it real quick:
He’ll be happier with his old friend lining up next to him again. The stats have been meh for Rodgers, but they should go up. Is he a fringe QB1? I doubt it, but in 2QB leagues, this is nice.
Welp. Dude was having a great season as WR1 in New York, and now his value takes a hit. How big? We’ll see. The thing is: the mere presence of Adams and Wilson means one of them will face single coverage. And maybe Wilson becomes a big play threat to Adams’ short yardage stuff.
But he saw 33 targets in his past two games. That’s gone.
We know what he did when he and Rodgers were in Green Bay together. While Wilson being around means he may not see as many passes as he used to, this is a MUCH better situation than the one he had in Las Vegas.
Now, hopefully that hamstring injury is healed, right?
Say hello to your new WR1 in Vegas, when healthy.
He had a couple of good games with Adams out, but had just two targets last week. No matter. He’s WR2 on a team that will throw a lot later in games that they trail.
He was already a top-five tight end this year, and that will keep being the case.
