Illinois took down No. 19 Kansas on Saturday, 23-17, to improve to 2-0 on the young 2024 season. The Fighting Illini flustered Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels into three interceptions and forced four turnovers on the day, which played a big role in the Illinois victory. The Jayhawks won the yardage battle (327 to 271) and had more first downs, but the Illini still put forth a winning effort that included a 15-play drive to help put the game away late in the fourth quarter.
Central Michigan is a 20-point underdog to Illinois after the point spread opened at 17.5. The Chippewas torched lowly Central Connecticut, 66-10, in their season opener, but got roughed up on the road to Florida International, 52-16, to fall to 1-1 through two games. Central Michigan’s found success in that blowout loss to FIU, but team’s 369 yards and 34:18 in time of possession was more than offset by six total turnovers and five interceptions by Joe Labas.
The Fighting Illini and Chippewas are set for a noon ET start exclusively on Peacock.
