MUMBAI: The bones and remains allegedly belonging to Sheena Bora, recovered by police in Raigad, Maharashtra, are currently untraceable, the prosecution said to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court during the ongoing trial.
This disclosure was made on Thursday during the deposition of a forensic expert from the state-run JJ Hospital in Byculla, Mumbai. The court is currently recording the testimony of the forensic expert who first examined the bones recovered by the Pen police in 2012 from the site where Sheena Bora’s burnt body was allegedly buried, as reported by PTI.
Indrani Mukerjea, Sheena Bora’s mother, is the prime accused in the murder case. According to police, the 24-year-old Sheena Bora was killed in April 2012, though the crime only came to light in 2015.
On Thursday, Special Public Prosecutor CJ Nandode informed the court that the bones and remains, which were referred to and examined by the forensic expert, could not be located despite a thorough search. Nandode added that the prosecution plans to continue the chief examination of the witness without displaying the articles, as they are untraceable.
The CBI court adjourned the matter to June 27 for further evidence recording after defense advocates raised no objections to the prosecution’s request.
