FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts– The Houston Texans travel north to New England to face the Patriots today, airing on CBS and Paramount+ beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern.
Several streaming services will broadcast the game live and you can watch on Fubo (free trial and $20 off your first month), DirecTV Stream (free trial), Paramount+ (free trial) and Sling (promotional offers).
We have two interesting teams meeting today, Sunday, Oct. 13, because they’re on total opposite ends of the spectrum. Houston earned its fourth win in Week 5 over Buffalo, tying for the third best record in the NFL.
New England’s only win so far came against Cincinnati in Week 1, though they’re also one of seven teams with one win up to this point. They started veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett for the first five games.
But recent reports indicate they will start third overall pick Drake Maye out of North Carolina in Week 6 versus Houston. He’s only appeared in the Week 3 loss to the Jets, completing four of his eight passes for 22 yards.

Texans – Patriots Matchup Preview
The Texans got away with another win in Week 5 over Buffalo, in which they turned to Ka’imi Fairbairn for the 59-yard field goal make as time expired. C.J. Stroud amassed 331 passing yards for one touchdown and one interception, also making this the second time this season no receiver hit 100 or more receiving yards. The defense was doing well in the first half, limiting Buffalo to three first-half points, but it’s hard to contain one of the best offenses for so long as they gave up 17 in the second half.
The Patriots are one of seven teams with one win in the NFL, so why not try out the rookie you selected back in April of this year? Drake Maye has only played in one game with four completions to show for, but the sooner they start to play him, the better he can get.
As for elsewhere on the team, their Week 5 loss to Miami was the second one-possession loss they’ve suffered this season. The defense hasn’t been as sturdy since Week 1 passed, ranking in the bottom 10 in yards allowed per game (357.0). Then running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who had 120 rushing yards in Week 1, has yet to exceed 100 since that game. It’s been an interesting season for New England.
