Mixon proved to be explosive for the Texans on Sunday, getting loose for the game’s longest play, a 59-yard scamper up the left side early in the second quarter. He scored his touchdown on the ground with a 20-yard run. His receiving touchdown came in the first quarter, when he caught a pass from C.J. Stroud and took it 10 yards for the score.
“He’s got great vision,” Stroud said. “Hhits it as hard as he can, so just a great feel for the game, a great feel to set his blocks up. When our O-line is blocking today and he’s setting blocks, it’s a recipe for success.”
For Mixon, it was good to finally be back on the field with his teammates.
“I felt a big weight off my shoulders,” Mixon said. “Missing time and going out there with my brothers, going out there competing and obviously trying to do whatever we can to come out with the dub. It’s a hell of a feeling.”
It was the 100th career game for Mixon, and his 7.8 yards per carry is the third-highest total in a game in his career.
