Dennis Quaid References ‘Reagan’ Role At Trump Rally

2024-10-14 04:30:03

Dennis Quaid has declared Donald Trump the best president since Ronald Reagan.

The Golden Globe nominee referenced his starring role as his “favorite president of the 20th century” in the recent Reagan biopic as he showed his support for Trump at the Republican nominee’s campaign rally Saturday in Coachella, California.

“God bless you. God bless America,” said Quaid to the crowd. “I’m here today to tell you that it’s time to pick a side. Are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution? Or for TikTok? Are we going to be a nation of law and order? Or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it’s time to pick a side.”

He proceeded to compare the current state of affairs in the US to when Reagan took office. “It’s amazing how the issues of the 1980 election are very similar to what they are today,” said Quaid.

“We were a nation in decline. That’s what they told us,” he continued. “Ronald Reagan came along and said, no, we’re not a nation in decline. We’re going there. And we followed him. The same with Trump, with President Trump. My favorite president of the 21st century.”

Grossing more than $29 million worldwide since it premiered in August, director Sean McNamara‘s Reagan is a dramatic biopic based on the 40th president’s journey from childhood to the White House. Amid the 2024 presidential election, the film has been pitted against the Ali Abbasi-helmed The Apprentice, a critical portrait of Trump’s rise to fame in the ’80s, starring Sebastian Stan as the twice-impeached president.

Quaid’s appearance at Saturday’s rally comes after Zachary Levi previously name-dropped his Shazam! role while endorsing Trump at a rally in Michigan last month, comparing him to the Kennedys.

After her ABC News debate with Trump last month, Kamala Harris has accepted a CNN invite for an Oct. 23 town hall following the deadline for both candidates to agree to a presidential debate on the network. The town hall will be broadcast live from the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.

Although Trump previously declared “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE” for him, CNN has also proposed an individual town hall for him. He has since agreed to a pre-taped Fox News town hall focused on issues affecting women, which will air Oct. 16.
