Jane’s Addiction show in Boston cut short after Perry Farrell punches Dave Navarro onstage

2024-09-14 18:30:03

The Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston Friday night ended abruptly after Perry Farrell appeared to shove Dave Navarro before throwing a punch at the guitarist.

Video of the video was captured at the band’s show atLeader Bank Pavilion and quickly circulated on social media.

Fans said it was confusing to watch it all unfold.

“The crowd was bemused,” one person posted on X, also noting that while half of the audience seemed upset the performance ended early, the rest was “excited” because they “may have seen the last Janes A show ever.”

In the footage, Farrell is seen singing while approaching Navarro. He then looks as if he pushes him as the guitarist continues to perform.

The two exchange inaudible words, with Farrell taking a swing at Navarro. Several crew members, as well as bassist EricAvery, swarm the men. There is a brief struggle and Farrell is escorted offstage by crew members.

Farrell admitted to struggling with his vocals at a previous show in New York City. He apologized to fans at the Rooftop at Pier 51 earlier this week.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. Something’s wrong with my voice,” he tells the crowd. “I don’t know if you heard, but something’s gone wrong. I just can’t get the notes out all of a sudden.”

On Wednesday, Avery addressed the incident on Instagram, with the band set to play a second show at the venue later that night.

“Looking forward to getting another crack at this spectacular rooftop venue tonight,” Avery wrote. “I’m optimistic we will be better.”

It wasn’t immediately clear if the remaining gigs on the band’s much-anticipated reunion tour will go on as scheduled. Some fans questioned the fate of the band, as well as expressed concern for the vocalist.

“Ugh. Have ticket for next Friday in Detroit,” one person wrote on X. “Perry looks like he needs help.”

Others said it was best not to jump to conclusions.

“We don’t know what Perry’s problem was the other night so let’s not assume but if it’s alcohol/drugs hopefully he’s not indulging tonight and coming back stronger than ever like he should and can! Perry is one of the best. Everyone has their bad nights,” another person noted. “The band is so solid right now!”

Jane’s Addiction recently hit the road again after a nearly 15-year hiatus of touring. According to the band’s website, tickets remain on sale for shows through Oct. 16.
