KOZHIKODE: Amid news of mounting casualties in the fire at Mangaf in Kuwait, the dramatic escape of Nalinakshan from Kerala’s Trikaripur has emerged as a silver lining and testimony of quick thinking.
According to his family members, Thazhathu Nalinakshan, who has been working as a driver with the NBTC company for the last 25 years, got trapped on the third floor of the building as fire and smoke engulfed it on Wednesday morning.But he didn’t lose his presence of mind and jumped into the water tank below and landed on the sheet roofing on top of it. “We got information around 11am on Wednesday that Nalinakshan had escaped from the raging fire by jumping from the third floor to the water tank below and landing on the sheet roofing of the tank,” Nalinakshan’s uncle TV Balakrishnan said.
Nalinakshan sustained multiple fractures in ribs and underwent a surgery on Thursday.
