Emily in Paris Season 4 has returned for five new episodes that include a Roman reprieve for Emily.
Part 1 involved a lot of recovery from the explosive ending of Season 3 of the Netflix series as the ensemble cast adjusts to new dynamics. The drama was summarized in Timothée’s (Victor Meutelet) TikTok. Part 1 of Season 4 launched Thursday, August 15 after a blush pink carpet premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles.
For those needing a recap of Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 1, a summary of the main plot points in the first five episodes lies below.
Emily, Alfie and Gabriel Recovered From the Wedding Disaster
The love triangle between Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) took on a different dimension following Camille’s (Camille Razat) confession at her engagement party-turned-wedding to Gabriel in Season 3. She pointed out that Emily and Gabriel still have feelings for each other, and that is why she cannot marry Gabriel.
After the wedding fell apart, Gabriel told Emily that Camille was pregnant with his baby. Despite their breakup, Gabriel wants to be part of the baby’s life, so he and Camille remain close, but Emily remains the only one who knows that Camille actually fell in love with a woman Sofia Sideris (Melia Kreiling).

Another loose thread Emily is forced to tie up involves her relationship with Alfie. He needed space after the news Camille dropped at the wedding, but he and Emily were still the faces of an Ami ad involving hot air balloons. The Ami boss wants Alfie and Emily to show up at the French Open at Roland Garros where they plan to show an ad, and Emily got Alfie to come. At first, it seemed like Alfie would get back together, but he decided he couldn’t get past what had happened after they shared a goodbye kiss on the bisous cam.
Mindy and Co. Were Selected for Eurovision
Benoit (Kevin Dias) approached Mindy (Ashley Park) at the end of Season 3 to tell her that his song “Mon Soleil,” which he wrote for her, got selected for Eurovision, so they go see an official to learn the competition rules. They have to come up with their own budget for the song contest.
Mindy overheard her new boyfriend Nicolas de Leon’s father Louis criticizing the way she had previously dressed at an event, which meant that Nicolas picked out Mindy’s pink couture outfit to help her cover-up. She scolded him for not standing up to his father, and she told him that she would dress however she wanted. She later sold the couture to raise money for EuroVision.
Camille Went Missing
Camille took off without letting anyone know where she was going, and her parents called Gabriel freaking out. Emily first thought Camille had gone to Greece to be with Sofia, but later she found her at Giverny “cleaning the water lilies,” which volunteers offer to do to go in boats out on the pond. Emily confronted Camille for everything she said and accused her of running away without telling the full story.
Emily and Mindy had contacted Sofia about Camille’s whereabouts, she came back to Paris to see her. She also talked with Gabriel, who had to adjust to the news of her involvement in their lives. Camille and Sofia end up staying in Gabriel’s apartment.
Julien Went To Work for JVMA
Julien (Samuel Arnold) was already annoyed with Emily for jumping in to pitch his clients last season, and her involvement in the Ami ad after she and Alfie broke up pushed him to go work for JVMA, who made him an offer at the end of Season 3. He accepted the offer from them at the tennis match, and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) made it about her because Louis also wanted to invest in a Laurent G club in Paris.
Sylvie Spoke Out About Louis de Léon
A journalist from Le Monde contacted Sylvie several times for a story she wanted to write about Louis de Léon. Sylvie had tried to make nice with the JVMA millionaire before the opening of her husband’s club, but after hearing from Emily through Mindy, who was told by some workers at JVMA that she should never go in the brand closet alone, Sylvie got the courage to tell her side of the story.
The story came out the night of the Heartbreak Ball, which was to launch a Baccarat perfume that Antoine wanted to sell.
The Masquerade Ball
Emily and Gabriel finally got together at the Masquerade Ball, but Alfie went too in an attempt to win Emily back after Camille suggested he still could because Emily hadn’t gotten with Gabriel yet. Alfie had previously confronted Gabriel about his feelings for Emily, but this was before Gabriel knew about Sofia.
Alfie kissed a woman working on the perfume campaign because she dressed the same way as Emily had, but then he watched her leave with Gabriel, who had their own romantic carriage getaway moment but not quite Bridgerton level.
Laurent G Club Opening
After Sylvie spoke up about Louis de Léon’s past, JVMA pulled their funding from Laurent’s (Arnaud Binard) Paris club, so Sylvie called upon her mother (Liliane Rovère) to help. Her mom was formerly known as La Reine de la Nuit for her nightclub operations.
Gregory Dupree (Jeremy O Harris), who took over Pierre Cadault, returned with his outrageous fashion design, featuring penis pants, that were originally designed for JVMA in the context of Louis de Léon’s scandal. His project was scrapped by the company, and he brought the models to the club instead.
Camille Is Not Pregnant
Upon visiting a gynecologist because she started spotting, Camille discovered that she was not actually pregnant. The shot of her smoking in sadness at a restaurant with her friend confirmed it. She prepared to give news of the false pregnancy to Gabriel, but it was the only thing keeping them together.
Gabriel’s Michelin Star Chances Went Up in Smoke
Unfortunately, Luc’s (Bruno Gouery) girlfriend Marianne (Laurence Gormeazano) was not who she said she was, and a fellow Michelin inspector exposed her for getting fired from the organization based on insider dining. This came about when she organized a reservation for Sylvie’s anniversary dinner with Laurent so that Luc (who was originally tasked with finding a way into the prestigious restaurant) could ask for a raise.
This means that Gabriel’s star isn’t really in the works, since Marianne is not a legit food critic. She does actually work at the phone company. This and Camille’s false pregnancy unfolded in the episode titled Trompe L’Oeuil, which means optical illusion, in French.
