If you have thoughts on safety and policing in Morgantown we want to hear from you.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to join a focus group to help shape the future of policing in Morgantown by sharing experiences and ideas.
Whether you have had positive interactions with the police or faced challenges, your input is invaluable.
Focus groups will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 14), from 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 24 and from 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 27.
This project, led by co-principal investigators Megan Gandy from the School of Social Work and James Nolan from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, is being conducted in partnership with the Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board, a City Council appointed board.
The project centers a community engaged approach and involves data collection in the following three phases:
Phase 1: Initial focus groups now underway.
Phase 2: A survey will be mailed to a randomized sample of Morgantown mailing addresses.
Phase 3: Follow-up focus groups will review the results from Phases 1 and 2 and make recommendations and action plans for the Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board to present to Morgantown City Council and Morgantown Police Department.
