2024-08-13 23:40:02

FC Barcelona and Maybank, a leading banking group in Asia, have announced an extension of their partnership deal until 2027. This renewed agreement will see Maybank continue as the Official Bank of FC Barcelona in Malaysia and Singapore, a role it has held since 2017.

This extension is a significant development for both FC Barcelona and Maybank. For the football club, it strengthens its foothold in the vibrant Asian market, where it enjoys a substantial fanbase. For Maybank, the partnership provides an excellent platform to broaden its brand reach and enhance customer engagement.

Under the new agreement, Maybank will maintain its promotion of the Maybank FC Barcelona Cards in Malaysia and Singapore. These cards, available as both credit and debit options, are designed to reinforce Maybank’s position as a leader in the card markets of these countries. Additionally, Maybank will continue its exclusive campaigns, such as the “Spend & Score” initiative, which includes challenges and prize draws. Previous campaigns have offered clients unique opportunities, including trips to Barcelona and meetings with Barça Legends.

From now until September 15th, 2024, Maybank will launch a new campaign, giving Malaysian FC Barcelona fans another chance to win an exclusive experience in Barcelona and engage in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Maybank remains a dominant force in the card market, with over 14 million cardmembers in Malaysia and Singapore. Among these, more than 600,000 are Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Debit and Credit cardholders, highlighting the strong connection between Maybank and football fans in the region.

Juli Guiu, Vice-President of FC Barcelona’s Marketing Area, commented: “We are proud to extend our collaboration with Maybank to offer new services and Barça experiences for our fans in Malaysia and Singapore. Asia is a key region for the club’s expansion, and with hundreds of thousands of passionate fans eager for innovative ways to connect with us, Maybank’s initiatives are an ideal match. We look forward to continuing our partnership and bringing more exciting opportunities to our supporters.”

Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, Group CEO of Community Financial Services at Maybank, added: “We are thrilled to announce the continuation of our successful partnership with FC Barcelona. This renewed agreement highlights our commitment to providing exceptional value and experiences for our customers. Over the years, our marketing campaigns and exclusive offers have deeply resonated with football fans in Malaysia and Singapore. This extension promises even more innovative and engaging initiatives, strengthening our bond with one of the world’s most iconic football clubs. We eagerly anticipate another three years of shared success and memorable football moments.”

The extended partnership underscores Maybank’s dedication to enhancing customer experiences while reinforcing FC Barcelona’s presence in key Asian markets.
