Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 71 out of 72 ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The details of George Kurien were not analysed as he is not currently a member of either House. According to ADR’s analysis, Jyotiraditya Scindia is the second richest minister (424 crore), followed by HD Kumaraswamy (217 crore), Ashwini Vaishnaw (144 crore), Rao Inderjit Singh (121 crore), and Piyush Goyal (110 crore). In all, six ministers have declared assets worth more than 100 crore.
Srikakulam MP and Union civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu is the 19th richest minister with a net worth of 23.3 crore. He is also the youngest among all ministers. Narasapuram MP and minister of state for heavy industries and steel, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, stands in 42nd place in the list.
One case is pending against Pemmasani, and four against Rammohan Naidu. The charges against Pemmasani include alleged illegal payments in connection with an election (IPC section 171H) and another charge related to punishment for bribery (IPC section 171E).
The charges against Rammohan Naidu include punishment for wrongful restraint (IPC section 341), charges related to disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant (IPC section 188), and charges related to acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention (IPC section 34).
