Apple unveiled the next generation version of its iOS operating system — iOS 18 at its annual developer conference, WWDC 2024. The company claims that the latest version of the iPhone operating system brings new customisation options, redesigned Photos app and Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system.
Apple has announced that the developer beta for iOS 18 is available via the Apple Developer Program and the public beta will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program next month.The Cupertino-based tech giant has also confirmed that iOS 18 software will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone Xs and later. This means that Apple’s anniversary edition — iPhone X will not get the iOS 18 update.
iPhone X will not get iOS 18 updateWhile iPhone X will not receive the most recent OS updates, Apple is committed to providing essential security patches as needed. However, the mentioned iPhone will not acquire any additional features and will maintain their current functionality.
For those who may not know, Apple launched the iPhone X in 2017 as the company’s 10th-anniversary edition iPhone. The smartphone features an A11 Bionic chipset and an all-screen design.
Apple iPhone X features edge-to-edge screen and comes with advanced augmented reality capabilities and facial recognition. It also features a 12MP main camera with support for 4K video and a 7MP front shooter.
