WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW’s women’s tennis program will head to Argentina in early October as the Seahawks make their first international venture in the program’s history.
“Going into my final year with the team, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to travel to such a beautiful country with them,” said senior Stela Joksimovic. “This group of girls are like my sisters. We have fun sitting in the van for hours, running the track, and enjoying team dinners together. I can’t wait to laugh and explore Argentina with them. We are so thankful for our coaches and everyone who supports our team. Looking forward to an amazing year!”
Thanks to the support from William M. “Bingo” Bryan, the Virginia and Alex Trask Charitable Fund, Beverly Memory and Graham Farmer, the Seahawks will visit Buenos Aries on Oct. 4-13. During the trip, UNCW will play Argentina’s National Team while also training and team-building. Community service is a pillar of the program and the student-athlete will spend a day in the community helping support the people in the area.
“Our players and coaching staff are very excited for this opportunity to experience the culture, history, language and people of Argentina,” said Head Coach Hans Olsen. TThis is the first time that any of us have traveled to Argentina and we believe it will be a wonderful experience.”
