Ahead of its upcoming 50th season, “Saturday Night Live” has announced the addition of three new stars to the cast. However, one cast member, Bergen County native Chloe Troast, will not be making an appearance during this historic season.
On Monday, Troast posted a statement on her Instagram account, making it clear that leaving the show is not her choice.
“Unfortunately, I was not asked back to SNL this season. I wish I was going to be with all the amazing friends I made there, it truly felt like home. But it wasn’t in the cards,” reads the statement.
Troast goes on to thank everyone who has supported her during her time on SNL and throughout her tour, which brought laughter to 10 cities around the country this summer. “I hope I was able to spread joy and laughter, all love. Onwards and upwards.”
Troast, 27, grew up in Ho-Ho-Kus and graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale in 2015. Having originally launched her career in local comedy clubs, she landed a spot on “Saturday Night Live” last fall, making her official SNL debut in the season 49 premiere on Oct. 15.

Since posting her statement on Instagram Monday, Troast has received over 1,900 comments from fans, fellow comedians and other pop culture personalities, many of them shocked that she was not asked back by the iconic late-night show.
“I’ve been watching SNL since the first season in 1975. I didn’t think I’ve ever been more surprised by a cast member not being asked back,” said one commenter. “I thought you were a star. But I don’t have to tell you – you are in good company! You made your mark, and I look forward to whatever comes next.”
“Honestly, you were the only reason I kept watching SNL last season … ready to follow you on your next adventure,” wrote another.
What’s next for Chloe Troast?
As her summer tour has ended and her work on “Saturday Night Live” has come to a close, many fans are wondering what is next for the young comedian.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 10, Troast has not announced any upcoming shows or events on her social media pages.
