AFP via Getty ImagesAfter more than two weeks of thrilling sports competitions and unforgettable moments in Paris, it’s time to bid farewell to the City of Love and pass the baton to the 2028 Summer Games host, Los Angeles. Read on to learn what time the 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony will air on NBC and Peacock.
Part of today’s Closing Ceremony will showcase “Records,” a show organized by 2024 artistic director Thomas Jolly. The event will take place in the Stade de France, which was transformed into a gigantic concert hall. There will be hundreds of performers, including acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.
The official Olympics website teased that the “Records” will “celebrate the end of a fortnight of competitions and festivities for the Olympic leg of the Paris 2024 Games.” Part of the show will also take place in the air, “while the giant sets, costumes and spectacular lighting effects will take spectators on a journey through time, both past and future.”
Sunday’s big event will also feature traditional aspects of Closing Ceremonies, including the flags of the nations, the athletes’ parade, and the handover of the Olympic flag to the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee. Several news outlets have confirmed that H.E.R. will be performing, with Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers also set to participate in the event.
Tom Cruise will also be reportedly involved in the Closing Ceremony handover. Deadline reported that the Hollywood star is planning to perform an action movie-worthy stunt.
Team USA announced on August 8 that swimmer Katie Ledecky and rower Nick Mead will carry the American flags at the closing ceremony. “Thank you, Team USA,” Ledecky said in a video posted by Team USA’s social media accounts. “This is a huge honor. I can’t wait for closing ceremony. It’s been an honor representing our country here in Paris. I’m so proud to be part of this team.”
