JABALPUR: A report submitted to assistant commissioner tribal welfareJabalpur revealed that at least 15 teachers come to school in inebriated conditions on a regular basis in Mehadwani development block of tribal dominated Dindori district.
Besides, four teachers from the same block have more than one wife and nine have been absent from their duties for a long period of time.
The nine teachers who have been absent for a long period of time were suspended, and remaining 19 teachers including 15 who come to school in inebriated condition and 4 who have more than one wife, have been issued show cause notices.
Assistant commissioner, tribal welfare, Santosh Shukla had sought report from the block education officers of all the seven blocks of Dindori district seeking information regarding the teachers.
“So far only a reply from only one block has been received. As per the report of the block education officer, 15 teachers have been found to be coming to school in inebriated conditions, 4 have more than a wife and 9 have been absent for a long period of time. Action has been taken against all these 28 teachers, 9 who were absent for a long time without informing have been suspended, and show cause notices have been issued to remaining others”, Santosh Shukla told TOI.
As per block education officer’s reply, a copy of which is with TOI, one among the 9 absentee teachers has not reported on duty since 2005.
