Editor:
This letter is in response to Donald Wilson’s letter to the editor, (“Some City Market employees are local treasures,” Sept. 2, Aspen Daily News). I second all of Wilson’s accolades to some of the City Market employees but would expand it to include all of the City Market employees who work so hard to stock the shelves and keep the store operating. Many almost seem like family members after 29 years of shopping there. Be sure to greet them and thank them.
I also give accolades to all employees in Aspen who keep this community running — employees of the Miner’s Building and Ace Hardware, Carl’s Pharmacy, Clark’s Market, city and county employees, Aspen Valley Hospital and other medical and dental employees, post office employees, all the people who work in our shops and restaurants, SkiCo employees, RFTA drivers, the myriad maintenance workers driving up and down the valley, teachers, librarians (they are Pitkin County employees), city council members and county commissioners, U.S. Forest Service employees and, of course, all the volunteers in this community.
Really, anybody who works in Aspen, and especially people who commute, are all “treasures” and deserve our gratitude. They certainly have mine.
