Entergy tree-trimming to start Tuesday, weather permitting

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Entergy contractors were scheduled to trim trees in the downtown area on Monday but had to postpone the work.

Entergy officials say the trees are on a cycle. Right now, what they call the East Broad feeder lines are on the schedule.

If the winds are more than 30 miles an hour, no employees or contractors are allowed up in buckets, according to Lorena Ceasar, an Entergy customer service representative.

“We want everyone who comes to work that morning to go home that evening the same way that they came without any incidents. Any minor slip-up could be detrimental, and could even be deadly to any of the workers. So, safety is the number one thing that we have,” Ceasar said.

Ceasar also said if there’s an outage, the problem isn’t necessarily on your street.

“If you don’t see trucks in your area, it’s not because we’re not working in your area. It’s because they are all working on providing the source of that power to get over to you,” Ceaser said.

Ceasar said Entergy is also working on installing more steel poles, as a part of Entergy’s resiliency plan approved by the Louisiana Public Service Commission.

“The steel poles, are able to withstand winds of 150 miles per hour,” Caesar said.

Ceasar says weather permitting, the tree trimming will get underway Tuesday.
