NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab injuries at her rented accommodation in south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur on Tuesday. Police suspect the involvement of a male friend and have launched a manhunt to trace him. The deceased, identified as Sakshi, was employed with a private firm in Okhla and had been residing in the flat in Pratap Gali, Kotla Mubarakpur, for the past year. Police received a call about the incident around 9.19 pm. According to police, the landlord of the apartment was away when his parents, who also live in the building, heard loud noises coming from Sakshi’s room. Alarmed by the commotion, they contacted their son, who rushed back and noticed bloodstains on the staircase. He did not proceed further and immediately alerted the police. Upon reaching the spot, police found the main door to Sakshi’s room locked from the outside. When they gained entry, police found her body lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds. “Initial investigations suggest that Sakshi was in the room with a male friend. A quarrel broke out, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed her several times, which resulted in her death,” said a senior police officer. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory and the crime unit inspected the scene and collected evidence. The suspect is currently absconding. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track his movements and establish the sequence of events. A case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered.
