France earns Olympic basketball semifinals win

Germany will face France in the 2024 Paris Olympic men’s basketball semifinals on Thursday.

Germany advanced past the quarterfinals with a 76-63 win over Greece on Tuesday. France advanced with an 82-73 win over Canada on Tuesday.

FINAL: France 73, Germany 69 | France advances to gold medal game

Germany cut the deficit to two points in the final minute, but France never relinquished its lead. Yabusele finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Wembanyama recorded 11 points and three blocks.

Schroder led Germany with 18 points and four assists. Wagner recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.

Germany will face the loser of the United States and Serbia in the bronze medal game at 4 a.m. CT Saturday. France will play the the United States in the gold medal game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

End third quarter: France 56, Germany 50 | Guerschon Yabusele, France take the lead

France took its first lead of the game in the third quarter. Guerschon Yabusele scored nine points, bringing his total to 15.

Schroder continued to lead the way for Germany. He scored eight points in the quarter, which brought his total to 15.

Halftime: France 33, Germany 33 | Victor Wembanyama comes alive

France tied the game, and Wembanyama led the way. After recording an empty stat line in the first quarter, the San Antonio forward erupted for seven points, five rebounds and one block in the second quarter.

Schroder and Wagner went scoreless in the second quarter, but they still led Germany at halftime with seven points apiece.

End first quarter: Germany 25, France 18 | Dennis Schroder leads Germany to hot start

Germany led by as many as 10 points, but France went on a 7-0 run late in the first quarter to cut into the deficit.

Cordinier led France with nine points and two rebounds. Wagner and Schroder scored seven points apiece for Germany.
