Do you believe that alcohol consumption contributed to the violent altercation in this case?
“Initial investigation revealed frequent fights between the father and son over property matters. Both consumed liquor daily, which escalated their disputes. Due to this routine, relatives didn’t pay much attention to their arguments,” a senior police officer said.ACP-3 Twinkle Jain said the dispute involved money from a shop Gautam owned and intended to sell. “Gautam had received an advance payment for the shop sale. A dispute over this led to the murder,” she said.Uday, found sleeping in an adjacent room, was arrested on Sunday morning. An FIR has been registered under BNS Section 103 (murder). Deepak told cops Uday was addicted to alcohol and other drugs. Moreover, Uday was Gautam’s son from his first marriage. In 2010, his first wife left him, taking with her their daughter. Gautam’s second wife, the complainant said, died in a fire in 2016.
