The CMF Phone 1 has been launched in India and it is priced under Rs 20,000. It is the first-ever CMF smartphone from Nothing and the company followed the same strategy it did for its Nothing phones, offering a unique design with a good set of specs on paper. The budget device comes with a removable back cover design and packs a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset under the hood. The CMF Phone 1 is priced at Rs 15,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. There is also the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, priced at Rs 17,999. The device will go on sale via Flipkart. As part of the launch, one will be able to buy the CMF phone at a discounted price of 14,999, with select bank cards. But, this is a limited-period offer.
Nothing is selling the accessories separately. These include a lanyard, a stand, and a card holder with each one of them costing Rs 799. The removable back cover will be available in different colours, including blue, black, orange and light green, each priced at Rs 1,499. The company is saying that people can buy the phone charger at Rs 799, which is the offer for those who buying the CMF Phone.
The CMF Phone 1 packs a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate, up to 700nits of typical brightness, 2000nits of peak brightness. It features a punch-hole display design, just like other phones in the market. The device has a removable back cover design. The company says people who want a new refreshing look in every few months could simply change the back cover instead of buying a new device or resorting to different cases. The back cover, which is sold separately, ships with a screwdriver that lets you remove the back panel of the device.
Finally, the functionality of the wheel is also revealed. No, it doesn’t rotate for fidgeting and instead, lets you attach a lanyard or a small stand to it that Nothing is selling separately. It is even offering a card holder accessory that also gets attached to the wheel. The concept is cool. It is good to see Nothing offering a unique design in the lower range, where innovative devices are almost impossible to see. The device has a plastic body and the back panel is available in both matt as well leather finishes.
The newly launched CMF Phone 1 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. Nothing is promising to offer 2 years of Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches. The device is currently running on Android 14 and this announcement means that the CMF phone will be eligible to receive Android 16 OS as well. For biometrics, Nothing has provided an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is better than having side-mounted sensors.
Under the hood, there is a typical 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. Nothing doesn’t bundle a charger in the retail box along with the smartphone. Hence, one will have to buy it separately. For photography, there is a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup. On the front is a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
