NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu will be administering the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and members of the Union Council of Ministers on June 9 at 07.15pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
PM Modi is set to take oath for a historic third consecutive term.
Here are key details of the ceremony: - Date and time: The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 9, at 6pm.
- Guest list: The event will be attended by thousands of dignitaries, including foreign dignitaries
- Foreign dignitaries: Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, and Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth are expected to attend the event.
- Indian dignitaries: Prominent figures from various fields such as lawyers, doctors, artists, cultural performers, and influencers. This includes Viksit Bharat ambassadors, beneficiaries of Central government schemes, tribal women and sanitation workers.
- Religious leaders: Around 50 distinguished religious leaders from various faiths have also been invited.
- Mann Ki Baat participants: Participants who were recognised by Modi for their contributions are also expected to attend the ceremony.
- Padma awardees: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awardees will also be in attendance.
- Accommodation: The foreign dignitaries are expected to stay at hotels such as Taj Palace, The Oberoi, The Leela Palace, and ITC Maurya.
What are the security arrangements in place
The Delhi Police has prohibited the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft over the jurisdiction of NCT of Delhi during the swearing-in ceremony of the central government on June 9
The order shall come into force with effect from June 9 and shall remain in force for 2 days, said Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.
The Change of Guard Ceremony will not take place on June 8, 15 and 22, 2024 at Rashtrapati Bhavan due to the preparation for the swearing-in ceremony.
- Three-tier security: A three-tier security system is being implemented, which includes the inner perimetre (a high-security zone around the Rashtrapati Bhavan and Kartavya Path, where the ceremony will take place), outer perimetre (a second layer of security around the hotels where foreign heads of state and dignitaries will be staying, including the Taj, Maurya, Leela, and Oberoi hotels), and outer most perimetre (a third layer of security around central Delhi, including ground-to-air surveillance and a comprehensive security cover).
- Intelligence gathering: Intelligence agencies are coordinating with foreign counterparts to gather information on potential security threats and are conducting individual threat assessments for each foreign leader.
- Vehicular checks: Enhanced vehicular checks are being conducted to prevent any unauthorized vehicles from entering the security zones.
- Drone and Laser Beam Restrictions: Prohibitory orders have been imposed to curb drone and laser beam activities near the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and other sensitive areas.
- Security Personnel Deployment: Delhi Police and security personnel are being deployed in large numbers to maintain order and respond to any security incidents.
- Background Checks: Background checks are being conducted on hotel staff to ensure that they are trustworthy and pose no security risk.
- Control Rooms: Separate control rooms are being set up for security personnel to monitor the situation and respond to any security threats.
- Sealing of State Borders: State borders will be sealed during the ceremony to prevent any unauthorized entry.
- Enhanced Security Presence: An increased security presence will be maintained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) over the coming weeks, with the possibility of further enhanced restrictions depending on operational needs.
