The Raiders fell to the Broncos, 34-18, on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High.
Things couldn’t have started better for the Silver and Black in this divisional matchup. On an efficient four-play opening drive, Gardner Minshew found rookie tight end Brock Bowers for a 57-yard touchdown pass – the first TD of his career.
It marked the first time this season that the Raiders have scored on their opening drive and was the longest play by the Raiders this season.
The offense kept rolling to add three more points on a field goal on the following drive, bringing the game to 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. However, the scoring for the Silver and Black came to a halt.
The Broncos stormed back starting with a field goal in the second quarter and went on to score 34 points as the Raiders offense couldn’t quite find it’s groove to respond. On one of the Silver and Black’s two trips to the red zone, Minshew’s pass was intercepted by Pat Surtain II, who ran it back for a 100-yard pick-six.
Minshew finished 12-of-17 for 137 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
