Jets vs. Vikings NFL London Game scores, live updates: New York, Minnesota travel to the UK for the second international game this season

2024-10-07 14:00:03

Surprise NFL MVP candidate Sam Darnold leads the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings into London to take on the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers for the second international game this year. Minnesota has been a bit of a surprise this season with their journeyman signal caller leading the NFL in touchdown passes and passer rating heading into Week 4. It’s certainly unexpected from the 2018 first-round draft pick who’d been cast off by these same Jets after the 2020 season and early career struggles.

The Jets were hoping to have some stability at quarterback, at least for the next couple of years, when Aaron Rodgers got to the Big Apple before last season, but the Achilles tear that kept him out of all but four plays in 2023, and a middling start to this season — Rodgers is in the middle of the pack in touchdowns, yards and passer rating for the 2-2 Jets — may be cause for some early concern. That could turn around with a win over Minnesota to get Gang Green over .500 in the first of three straight weeks that the NFL will be in London.

LIVE COVERAGE IS OVER36 updates

  • Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson with an unsparing look at Aaron Rodgers’ accomplishment today.

  • Stephon Gilmore intercepts Aaron Rodgers! Vikings win!

The Jets had something cooking, but Rodgers unleashed his third interception of the day, this time to Stephon Gilmore, to seal their 23-17 loss.

  • Jets will have a chance to win with a TD, extra point

The Vikings could only manage a field goal, so they lead the Jets by just six points with three minutes left in the game.

The Jets get the ball back now, with a chance to win it all. They need a TD to tie it, and the extra point to win.

  • Jets make it a three-point game with Garrett Wilson TD!

  • That’s the Sam Darnold Jets fans know well

  • Can the Jets make a 4th quarter comeback?

The Jets need a TD and an extra point to tie the game, and they have one quarter to do it. (They could also go for the lead with a TD and a two-point conversion.)

    Can they make it happen?

Meanwhile, the Vikings haven’t scored since the 2nd quarter. They either need to score more points or defend that lead with their (metaphorical) lives.

  • Jets penalties: Lather, rinse, repeat

  • Aaron Rodgers goes down, but now back in like nothing happened

Rodgers got his leg trapped under a defender and limped off the field, and appeared to be just about to step into the blue medical tent, when a Vikings penalty got the Jets, and Rodgers, back on the field. He’s walking a little gingerly at times, but he’s back out on the field and marching down the field. Whew.

  • Sauce Gardner to locker room with possible concussion

Sauce Gardner is headed to the Jets locker room with a possible concussion after getting taken down by one of his own teammates.

  • Aaron Rodgers reaches career milestone

  • Running back Aaron Jones ruled out

  • “Don’t Look Back in Anger” (do you get it)

    Thank you, Rich Eisen.

  • Jets go into halftime with momentum

Not only did the Jets score their first points of the game to close out the first half, they also sacked Sam Darnold before time ran out.

Vikings lead 17-7, and they get the ball out of halftime.

  • Touchdown by Allen Lazard! Jets get on the board!

  • Vikings defense is schooling the Jets offense

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell is referring to Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

  • This image sums up the first half for the Jets

There are still three minutes left in the second quarter, but this still of Jets head coach Robert Saleh from the broadcast sums up how the first half has gone for the Jets.

  • This Vikings TD, brought to you by Jets penalties

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson had at least one chance to score this touchdown, but the Jets could not stop getting flagged when they tried to stop him from making catches. It gave the Vikings excellent field position, and it made scoring this touchdown a breeze.

  • A little context for what Aaron Rodgers has done in the first half

  • Aaron Jones questionable with hip injury
