PARIS (Gray News) – Gabby Thomas of the United States won the gold medal in the women’s 200m race Tuesday.
Thomas finished with a time of 21.83 seconds, winning by a wide margin after she sprinted to the finish.
Thomas won bronze in the event at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, who took gold in the women’s 100m in Paris, won the silver medal with a time of 22.08 seconds.
Thomas and Alfred were the two favorites to win.
Brittany Brown of the United States took home the bronze with a time of 22.20 seconds.
Thomas, 27, is a Harvard graduate with a degree in neurobiology and global health. She went on to receive her master’s last year from the University of Texas in sleep epidemiology.
