CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A wave of severe weather has hit Northeast Ohio Tuesday, with potential for flooding and tornadoes as rain and wind hit the area.
Around 4:10 p.m., Cleveland 19 News Meteorologists confirmed a tornado in the City of Garfield Heights.
Most of Northeast Ohio was under a tornado warning at various times as the storm passed through our area.

There is also a potential for tornadoes to occur, according to the National Weather Service. Here are the active weather alerts:

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Severe storms tore through the area, knocking out power to more than 425,000 FirstEnergy and Cleveland Public Power customers by 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities across Northeast Ohio have issued road closures due to travel conditions. Roads may be covered with debris from the storms. Drivers should adjust their speeds accordingly. Remember: If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on. Leave home early in case of traffic issues.
Detroit Road, French Creek Road, Highland Park, Stoney Ridge Road, Shakespeare Lane and Long Road will experience interrupted traffic until the streets are cleared, police say.
Detroit Road at Nagel Road and into Westlake is closed due to trees and lines down, Avon police say. Detroit is also closed between Long Road and Stoney Ridge Road.
Avon Lake police have released a list of road closures in the city through Facebook.
In North Ridgeville, Route 83 between Sugar Ridge and Bainbridge roads is closed.
Euclid police are asking for the public to avoid coming there if possible. There are downed trees and power lines, according to police, but thankfully no reported injuries.
Euclid police and fire departments are still responding to emergency calls.
Cleveland police are asking drivers to stay off the roads if possible.
Willoughby Hills police say there are current closures Chardon Road and Eddy Road from River road heading west.
“Maplegrove is currently only route open from River Road to SOM Center,” Willoughby Hills police say in a Facebook post.
