NEW DELHI: The ICC has responded to a complaint from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by relocating the Pakistan cricket team to a hotel nearer to the match venue in New York for their upcoming T20 World Cup fixtures.
This move comes after the PCB raised concerns about the team’s initial accommodation, which was a 90-minute drive from the stadium.

The PCB, led by chairman Mohsin Naqvi, lodged a formal complaint regarding the long commute from the initially allocated hotel to the stadium.Following Naqvi’s intervention, the ICC arranged for the team to be moved to a hotel only a five-minute drive from the purpose-built stadium on Long Island in Westbury, New York.

The new accommodation significantly reduces travel time, enhancing the team’s convenience and preparation for their matches. Pakistan are set to face arch-rivals India in a high-stakes match on Sunday, followed by a game against Canada at the same venue on June 11.
The Indian cricket team, also playing its group games in New York, is staying in a hotel that is just a 10-minute drive from the stadium. India have already won their first match at this venue.

The Sri Lankan team, which struggled in its first match against South Africa, expressed similar concerns about their long drive to the stadium, which exceeds an hour from their designated hotel.

The Pakistan team will travel to New York after their opening Group A game against co-hosts United States in Dallas on Thursday.
The details about the PCB’s complaint and the team’s relocation were shared by an anonymous source from the PCB, who spoke to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity due to the lack of authorization to discuss the matter publicly.
