The polls are now closed in several states, including Tennessee. For the next several hours (and likely days), Americans will anxiously await the results of the 2024 presidential election.
While the country may be split when it comes to politics, there is one thing everyone can agree on: a shared adoration for MSNBC political correspondent, Steve Kornacki.
The khaki-clad anchor shot to stardom during the 2020 presidential election, capturing the hearts of millions of viewers with his casual style and endearing personality. His charming disposition along with his enthusiastic election coverage has earned him the title of “Chart throb” and “Map daddy” online.
Now, the internet’s beloved correspondent, is back once again, passionately providing election coverage alongside his trusty map.
While the country awaits the definitive results of the historic election, Americans can count on Kornacki to break it all down. Here’s what to know about the viral correspondent.

Kornacki is a political correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC.
The 45-year-old anchor shot to internet fame during the 2020 presidential election, while providing election analysis wearing a laid back ensemble consisting of a white button-down shirt, a tie and Gap khaki pants.
He rapidly earned support and admiration from viewers for his charisma and unassuming attire, most notably from comedian and actor, Leslie Jones, who gushed over Kornacki in a video posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“This is how I like my reporters to look, disheveled and concerned. He ain’t got no jacket on, he don’t give a [expletive] about his tie,” said the comedian.
“I really like this guy, I really [expletive] love this guy,” added Jones.
But the love for his wardrobe choices is, at least for Kornacki, a mystery. In a recent interview with USA TODAY, Kornacki said he “truly did not get” the frenzy over his choice of outfit during the last election cycle.
“I was amused by the interest,” he said. “I never really understood it. It’s not like I had (a) lifelong attachment to these pants. They were just what I happened to be wearing that day.”
The appeal, according to GQ, exists in the modesty behind the khakis.
“In an era when we spend most waking moments reminding ourselves to unclench our jaws, it makes sense that we’d celebrate the most boring pants on the planet,” wrote GQ in a 2020 article.
Viewers can watch the chart throb’s election coverage on NBC News NOW livestream on Peacock. The stream will include a multi-view feature that allows viewers to switch from breaking news, analysis and polling results.
The multi-view feature will have its own “Kornacki Cam,” allowing viewers to keep up with his analysis.
Viewers can also tune in to the Kornacki Cam via MSNBC’s website and YouTube channel.
Steve Kornacki is a part of NBC’s Election Night coverage, which is set to run until around 6 a.m. Central Time on Nov. 6.
