Washington football rode a big fourth quarter into a 27-17 win over No. 10 Michigan on Saturday night, avenging its national championship loss to the Wolverines from last season.
The Huskies (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) upset the Wolverines (4-2, 2-1) on Saturday night despite blowing a 14-0 lead, allowing Michigan to score 17 unanswered through the second and third quarters. However, Washington outscored the Wolverines 13-0 in the fourth quarter to earn its second Big Ten win of the year.

Washington quarterback Will Rogers completed 21 of 32 passes for 271 yards with two touchdowns to an interception, his first of the season. Things looked bleak for the Huskies after Michigan intercepted Rogers in a tie game early in the fourth quarter, but Washington got the ball right back after Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle fumbled on a sack.
Tuttle, who entered for Michigan starting quarterback Alex Orji in the second quarter, gave the Wolverines signs of life offensively at times, completing 10 of 18 passes for 98 yards, however, he threw an interception and fumbled in the fourth quarter, which Washington capitalized on.
The Huskies rebounded from their 21-18 loss to Rutgers last week and looks to continue their momentum as they move forward in Big Ten action. Here’s the final score, updates and highlights from Washington’s win over Michigan on Saturday night:

Huskies ride a big fourth quarter to a 27-17 win over Michigan at home, avenging their loss in the national championship game from last season, albeit in a much different situation.
Washington fans are rushing the field at Husky Stadium.
Huskies take a 27-17 lead with 1:06 remaining in the fourth quarter after Grady Gross converts a 32-yard field goal. That’s likely going to do it, as Michigan would need an absolute miracle to come back.
Wow, what a play by defensive back Kamren Fabiculanan, who dives and intercepts Tuttle’s throw on an out route that might’ve been a tad behind the intended receiver. Still, Fabiculanan made a terrific play and dove to cut off the pass.
The Huskies take a 24-17 lead thanks to a 1-yard touchdown run by Jonah Coleman. Washington capitalized on its momentum from the fumble recovery with a 27-yard run by Coleman to start the drive, setting it up in the red zone.
Michigan going to need an answer soon with only 6:31 left in the fourth quarter.
Washington regains possession on a fumble recovery, as Tuttle let go of the ball as he was sacked. Just a huge play for the Huskies after Rogers’ interception, also earning great field position.
Rogers throws his first interception of the season, giving the ball back to the Wolverines. Rogers and Washington had a nice rhythm going on the drive before the turnover.
Michigan linebacker Ernest Hausmann made a fantastic play on the interception, and it came at a perfect time for Michigan.
Following a Will Rogers 9-yard sack back to the 20, Washington can’t get nearly enough on the ensuing play, completing a 9-yard pass back to the 11-yard line. Washington settles for a Grady Gross 28-yard field goal to even the score at 17-17, putting an end to what had been a 17-0 run by Michigan.
Still a lot of football left to be played in Washington.
Looks like Tuttle’s touchdown will be the only score of the third quarter. Michigan will take a 17-14 lead into the fourth quarter, but Washington has its best scoring opportunity of the second half, facing second-and-goal from the Michigan 11-yard line to start the quarter.
Michigan might’ve found its quarterback moving forward, as Tuttle leads a touchdown drive out of the break, ending in an 8-yard throw to Colston Loveland.
Michigan is now 3 of 3 on scoring drives since Tuttle entered the game, and the Wolverines have taken a 17-14 lead after trailing 14-0 in the second quarter.
The Wolverines get the ball back with a chance at a go-ahead score out of halftime.
Washington was moving the ball with ease in the two-minute drill to end the half, driving 64 yards on eight plays in 1:45 of game clock. However, Rogers overthrows Boston in the end zone for a potential touchdown right before halftime, setting up a field-goal attempt.
Huskies can’t catch a break, though, as their 28-yard attempt was blocked by Michigan, keeping the score at 14-10.
Tuttle hasn’t been electric by any means, but the new quarterback has led back-to-back scoring drives for Michigan. Wolverines cut deficit to 14-10 on the 45-yard field goal by Dominic Zvada.
Tuttle is 3 of 4 passing for 26 yards in his two possessions.
There goes Donovan Edwards. The Wolverines bench starting quarterback Alex Orji for seventh-year senior Jack Tuttle, who leads a touchdown drive on his first possession.
Michigan cuts Washington’s lead to 14-7 on the 39-yard touchdown by Edwards, on a play that looked strikingly similar to a touchdown he scored against the Huskies in the national championship last season.
After punting on its next possession, the Huskies choreographed another touchdown drive thanks to a 37-yard trick play to Cameron Davis to move into Michigan’s redzone.
Washington then took a 14-0 lead on Rogers’ 16-yard touchdown throw to Giles Jackson.
Huskies take a first-quarter lead on a methodical 13-play, 83-yard touchdown drive ending in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Will Rogers to Denzel Boston.
Washington drive took off 5:16 of game time.

“To count Michigan out of any game is foolish, yet winning this one will be a challenge. It’s a 2,000-mile trip to a hostile environment, against a program which wants revenge for a CFP championship game loss in January. U-Dub has moved the ball well in the air, and Michigan has been susceptible to the pass. If U-M doesn’t get out to an early lead, the past two weeks of second-half struggles suggest a potential collapse. Simply put, it’s hard to win at Husky Stadium, where U-Dub has won 17 straight games.“
