Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth, the top U.S. women’s beach volleyball team, were unexpectedly eliminated from the Paris Olympics on Monday.
Stunned, they left the Eiffel Tower Stadium together and were greeted by more than 30 family and friends.
“Louisiana girl, so why not just take the whole family, try and find a margarita just out on the street? We were trying to find it, but yeah, I mean, got to love Louisiana,” Nuss said.
Pete Nuss, Kristen’s brother, talked about the group leaving the venue. “It was more like a funeral procession. You know, we’re going to drink our sorrows away in typical New Orleans fashion.”
Kristen reflected on the experience. “I feel like right now I just have to really focus on the positives. We got to play in the Olympics under the Eiffel Tower. Family got to watch and now kind of obviously celebrate a little bit in that with them. So hopefully trying not to focus on the negative.”
This was the first Olympic Games for Nuss, 26, and Kloth, 27. When asked about their future plans, they admitted they were still processing the current moment.
“We haven’t even really thought that far,” Kloth said.
However, Kristen Nuss hinted at future possibilities.
“It’s definitely on the radar,” she said.
