Woman Dials KIA: Woman makes hoax call to stop boyfriend from flying out | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: A 29-year-old woman has landed in trouble after allegedly making a hoax call to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) helpline to stop her boyfriend from flying to Mumbai.
Police had initially registered the incident, which took place on June 26, as a non-cognizable register (NCR). On Wednesday, cops changed it to an FIR under IPC Section 505(1)(B) (statements conducing to public mischief).The accused, Indra Rajwar, is from Pune and works in Bengaluru.
According to a complaint filed with KIA police, the woman called the airport helpline number, saying a passenger named Mir Raza Mehdi, who was flying from Bengaluru to Mumbai, was carrying a bomb in his bag. She claimed he was her boyfriend. Mehdi, who was found at the airport, was frisked and checked for explosives. As the search did not yield anything, it was declared as a non-specific call. The officials found that Rajwar too was in the airport. The duo had booked tickets to Mumbai on different flights. They came to the airport in the evening and were sitting in the departure lounge speaking to each other before Rajwar called the helpline.
The officials detained Rajwar and took her to KIA police station, where she said she and Mehdi had some differences. He was flying to Mumbai and she wanted to stop him. So she made the call to the helpline in an attempt to stop him flying, an officer said.
“We’ll summon her further for interrogation and file a report in court. Both Rajwar and Mehdi are working in the city,” the cop added.
