Megyn Kelly to speak at Trump rally in Pittsburgh | News

2024-11-05 11:50:02

Journalist and podcast host Megyn Kelly confirmed on Monday that she would speak at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Kelly made the announcement on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show. The appearance Monday comes as the state largely has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in past years, including 2020, but flipped for Trump during his 2016 bid. The state has 19 electoral votes.

Kelly has endorsed Trump and explained that her Monday evening speech would “explain why I’m voting for him.” She expressed her disappointment in Trump’s guilty verdict in his civil fraud case the day it was read in court earlier this summer, writing on X, “The country is disgraced. Alvin Bragg should be disbarred. They will rue the day they unleashed this lawfare to corrupt a presidential election.”

“So tonight after the show, I’ll be headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I will appear with Trump at his last Pennsylvania rally before the vote, and I will probably explain to that audience and beyond why I think it’s absolutely essential that he win this election and that we not put Kamala Harris into the Oval Office as our president,” Kelly said.

The relationship between Kelly and Trump has had its ups and downs over the years. During the 2015 GOP debate that aired on Fox News, the two clashed onstage. In May 2016, during a one-on-one interview, Trump and Kelly seemed to resolve their differences.

Trump sent his hardest-hitting surrogates to stump for him in Pennsylvania. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, his own son Eric Trump, daughter-in-law and Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump, and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH). In addition to the rallies, Musk toured all over Pennsylvania, giving away $1 million to three random petition signers in the course of three days. Signers of Musk’s petition would be pledging their support for the First and Second amendments, which have been Musk’s cited reasons for endorsing Trump. These signers also had to be already registered voters in Pennsylvania to qualify.
