ASHWAUBENON – The Green Bay Packers bought 2055 Barberry Lane, south of Lambeau Field, for $800,000.
The Packers already owned parcels on three sides of the lot, which had a residential home on one-quarter of an acre. All the lots have been cleared, including the one just purchased.
So far this calendar year, the Packers spent nearly $13.7 million on eight parcels — five commercial and three residential. All are south or east of Lambeau Field. Two of the commercial businesses have moved or are planning to move to new sites.
The property was acquired by Henry Real Estate Development on Sept. 6 for $800,000. Henry Real Estate Development is owned by Ed Martin, formerly a member of the Packers board of directors. The Packers purchased the property for the same price on Oct. 30.
All told, the Packers spent more than $81 million buying land around Lambeau Field, most of it over the last 17 years. The team owns more than 92 acres, most of it in Ashwaubenon and half of it as part of the Titletown district.
The Packers have not said what they will do with the land. Team representatives say owning the land gives them flexibility for the future. Also, some of the lots could be used for operations during the 2025 NFL draft, scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay.
Other purchases this year include:
- 841 Mike McCarthy Way, Ashwaubenon, on June 20, for $1.2 million. Team2Racing is the commercial building tenant.
- 835 Mike McCarthy Way, Ashwaubenon, on Oct. 21, for $4.5 million. The property is home to Green Bay Distillery, which has a long-term lease.
- 842 Mike McCarthy Way, Ashwaubenon, on Sept. 26, for $1.16 million. The property is home to Soap Products Inc., which will move to a new site at the end of the year.
- 728 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay, on April 10 for $2.35 million. The property was the former home of Packer Fastener. It now is used as warehousing for Packers retail operations.
- 2031 S. Oneida St., Ashwaubenon, on April 16 for $2.5 million. The property is a BP gas station and will continue to operate as a gas station for the foreseeable future.
- 935 Stadium Drive, Ashwaubenon, on Jan. 30 for $600,000. House was razed and land is used for parking.
- 927 Stadium Drive Ashwaubenon, on May 22 for $600,000. House was razed and land is used for parking.
