Cumberland County Polls Open Nov. 5 for General Election

2024-11-05 09:45:05

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County polls will open Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for those who have not yet cast their vote. Voters are required to go to their designated polling locations on election day. A polling location tool and sample ballot can be found on the N.C. Board of Elections voter search page at vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup. Any voters still in line at 7:30 p.m. will be allowed to cast their ballots.

Additional information regarding polling times and locations can be found on the Cumberland County Board of Elections website at cumberlandcountync.gov/elections.

Voters will need to present photo identification to cast their votes. A list of accepted forms of photo ID is available at ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id. If a voter does not have an acceptable ID, they can still vote by:

  • Completing an ID Exception Form and voting with a provisional ballot.
  • Casting a provisional ballot and returning it to the County Board of Elections Office along with their photo ID by the day before the County canvass, which is scheduled for Nov. 15, 2024, at 11 a.m.

The State Board of Elections offers these important tips for voters:

  • As mandated by state law, all N.C. voters will cast a hand-marked paper ballot or use a touch-screen ballot-marking device that generates a paper ballot for verification prior to submission. All ballots will be inserted into a tested tabulator. To learn about the voting equipment used in your county, visit the State Board of Elections Voting Equipment page.
  • N.C. residents cannot register to vote on Election Day unless they have recently become eligible, such as through naturalization or restoration of rights following a felony conviction.
  • Voters needing assistance at the polls should ask for help. Curbside voting is available for those who cannot enter the voting location due to age or disability. Inside the polling place, voters experiencing difficulties should request assistance from a precinct official. For more information, see Help for Voters with Disabilities.

Voters who arrive to vote and whose name is not on the voter list may request a provisional ballot. Approximately a week after the election, voters who utilized provisional ballots can check their status using the Provisional Search tool. For further information, see the State Board of Elections Provisional Voting page.

State and federal laws prohibit intimidation or interference with voters, including obstructing access to polling places. It is also illegal to interfere with election officials in their duties. Violators may face prison time, fines, or both. The State Board of Elections takes such incidents seriously and will coordinate with law enforcement for appropriate responses. Voters who experience harassment or intimidation should notify a precinct official immediately.

Election results will be updated throughout the evening on the State Election Results Dashboard, with options to filter results by County.
