‘That ’90s Show’ Cast Reacts To Netflix Cancellation

After Kurtwood Smith announced that Netflix had canceled That ’90s Show after two seasons, his co-stars took to the comments to share their reactions.

Mace Coronel, who played Jay Kelso, said, “Such an honor to meet and work with you.”

Smith replied, “Mace, you’re a wonderful young man with a ton of talent to go along with it… it was [a] pleasure every day to see and work with you! Thanks for all those good days!”

Coronel’s character was the son of Ashton Kutcher’s Michael Kelso and Mila Kunis’ Jackie Burkhart.

Callie Haverda, who played Leia Forman, the daughter of Topher Grace’s Eric Forman and Laura Prepon’s Donna Pinciotti, also had some kind words for Smith, who played her grandfather Red Forman.

“The best TV grandpa I could’ve asked for,” Haverda said.

Smith wrote back, “…and there couldn’t be a better TV granddaughter! Callie, I was blown away by your talent and growth as an actor. I really believed you were the offspring of Topher and Laura. Not to mention some natural comedy chops. Thanks.”

Andrea Anders, who had a recurring role throughout the show’s run as the Formans’ neighbor and the mother of Ashley Aufderheide’s Gwen and Maxwell Acee Donovan’s Nate, said, “Such an honor to work with you.”

Smith replied to Anders, “The honor was mine.”

In an Instagram post, Smith addressed fans who were speculating when That ’90s Show Season 3 would be available on the streaming service.

“I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing,” Smith wrote.

Smith said that he “loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all,” and shared his gratitude for everyone involved in making the show.

The actor ended his post with hopeful news that they would look to get the show resurrected on another platform, writing, “To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.”
