Eminem’s latest music video reveals touching way he learned he’s going to be a grandpa

More than two decades after Eminem rapped about babysitting for his beloved daughter Hailie Jade, the hall-of-fame lyricist is going to have to put that into practice as it was revealed Thursday he’s going to be a grandpa.

The reveal came toward the end of the emotional music video for Eminem’s song “Temporary” which is included on his latest album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).” The song itself is a letter from Eminem to Hailie Jade designed to comfort her after he dies. Although the album was released in July, the video debuted Thursday and showcases the relationship between the two.

Footage of home videos taken more than 25 years ago are intertwined with video from Hailie Jade’s wedding earlier this year to her now husband Evan McClintock. The wedding footage includes the father-daughter dance and Eminem’s touching reaction to seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time.

As the music video winds down Eminem is shown sitting on a porch when Hailie Jade hands him a Detroit Lions jersey. But instead of a player’s name on the back, it reads “Grandpa.” A shocked Eminem looks at the camera and then holds a sonogram, confirming his daughter is pregnant.

News of the reveal spread quickly and the music video has amassed nearly five million plays in less than 24 hours. The Associated Press reports representatives for Eminem did not respond to requests for comments, but Hailie Jade posted on Instagram with a caption “Mom & dad est. 2025.”

It was not revealed when the baby is due or if the happy couple knows the sex of the baby.
