Who is Danny Amendola? Super Bowl-winning wide receiver to perform on ‘DWTS’
Among the 13 celebrities to be featured in the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” is former NFL player Danny Amendola. Amendola, 38, played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2004 to 2007 before signing as an undrafted free agent for the Dallas Cowboys in 2008.
Amendola’s career after the Cowboys took him beyond the Lone Star State. He made the practice squad for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 but didn’t make the cut for the regular season. The St. Louis Rams signed him instead, along with former Eagles’ quarterback coach Pat Shurmur. In 2013, Amendola signed a five-year contract with the New England Patriots.
In 2018, Amendola committed to the Miami Dolphins for two years but was released in 2019. He then played for the Detroit Lions for two seasons.
Amendola returned to his home state in 2021 to play for the Houston Texans. The following year, he announced his retirement from professional football.
