The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were a life-changing moment for Sunisa “Suni” Lee.

At just 18 years old, Lee became a symbol of national pride and international fame when she unexpectedly won the women’s gymnastics all-around gold medal, becoming the sixth American ever to claim the honor.

While the all-around title was Lee’s most notable accomplishment from her time in Tokyo, it wasn’t her only one.

In addition to her all-around gold and a silver medal in the team competition, Lee earned a bronze medal in the uneven bars, recording a score of 14.5. Three years later at the 2024 Paris Olympics, she made it back to the medal stand in the event.

Now 21 years old, the former Auburn gymnast is once again competing in the Olympics, having made the five-member United States women’s gymnastics team. She already has claimed two medals at Paris: She won bronze in the women’s all-around final and gold in the team final.

On Sunday, she added another, claiming a bronze medal in the uneven bars finals with a final score of 14.800, narrowly edging out Nina Derwael of Belgium by .034 points to podium.
