Oppo launched its flagship Reno 12 series in the global market a couple of weeks ago. The series includes the Oppo Reno 12 5G and the Reno 12 Pro 5G smartphones. Oppo, last week, confirmed that the smartphones are coming to India. Today, the company has announced that the Reno 12 series will launch in India on July 12. The Oppo Reno 12 series will feature some high-end features like a 50-megapixel triple camera setup, 5,000mAh battery, 80W fast charging support, among other things. However, the highlight of the phone, as per Oppo, is going to be its AI smarts.
Oppo has already confirmed that the Reno 12 series will come loaded with a bunch of built-in AI features including AI Best Face, AI Eraser 2.0, AI Studio, AI Summary, and AI Clear Face. The company says AI will be at the centre of the Reno 12 series.
An interesting feature that Oppo has teased for the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro is the BeaconLink technology. This technology provides dependable communication during network outages by enabling seamless one-to-one voice calls over Bluetooth, functioning much like a walkie-talkie in no-network environments.
Oppo has also confirmed that the Reno 12 series will come with a 5,000mAh battery and support for 80W SuperVOOC Flash Charge. According to the company, this allows the battery to charge from 0 to 100 percent in just 46 minutes. Additionally, the smartphones will include Smart Charging technology, which adapts to user habits to help preserve battery life.
Oppo has not yet confirmed the specifications for the Reno 12 series in India, but we can anticipate that they will be similar to the Chinese variants, excluding the chipset differences. The Chinese version of the Oppo Reno 12 features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on Android 14-based ColorOS 14.1 and includes a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.
The Reno 12 boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, offering a pixel density of 394 PPI and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and supports HDR10+.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Reno 12 is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro unit. The front camera is 32 MP with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.
The Oppo Reno 12 Pro has similar specifications but features a 50 MP telephoto lens and an enhanced 50 MP front camera, both with f/2.0 apertures and autofocus.
We will know the official pricing of the Reno 12 series in India only at the time of launch on July 12, but if we look at the Chinese variant, we can get some idea about which price segment the smartphones will fall in in India. The Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro debuted in the Chinese market priced at CNY 2,699 and CNY 3,399 respectively. Which means, if we do a simple conversion, the smartphones will likely be priced somewhere between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 in the Indian market.
