Veterans Day services are scheduled in Morristown and Morris Township over the next week, and the Auxiliary VFW Auxiliary of Post 3401 in Morris Plains is collecting clothing and other items for the Lyons VA Medical Center.

Greater Morristown ceremonies will commence on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, with the awarding of medals to 13 servicemen and women by the Morris County Commissioners, at their 7 pm meeting.

Seating is limited; the public is invited to arrive by 6:30 pm to the fifth floor of the Morris County Administration & Records Building, at 10 Court St., Morristown.

On Veterans Day — Monday, Nov. 11, 2024— ceremonies are scheduled for 10 am at the Morris Township Municipal Building on Woodland Ave., and at 11 am on the Morristown Green.

The guest speaker will be Michael Boll, a Marine Corps veteran of Operation Desert Storm and founder of the NJ Veterans Network, a nonprofit that helps veterans in need.

The former Union Township policeman also helped establish the Uniformed Heroes Project, a support effort providing PTSD- and suicide prevention resources.

President Biden selected Boll as a Community in Action Liaison: Building a Better America team member last year.

Morristown also plans to roll out its Mo-Town Heroes program. On Veterans Day last year, Morris Township inaugurated its heroes program, with banners honoring 44 veterans, living and deceased.

Below is the program for Monday’s events. You also can download it here.

Below are details about the county’s award ceremony, including recipient names.  Continue reading for details about the clothing drive.
