Ready for a reboot of a classic horror film?
HBO Max‘s new version of “Salem’s Lot” is here, retelling the story about a man named Ben Mears who moves to a small Maine town inhabited by evil vampires.
The remake is available on HBO Max starting on Thursday, Oct. 3. The film will be rated R for bloody violence and language, according to HBO Max.
Without giving anything away, the novel (and films) are about a writer named Ben Mears who returns to his hometown to write. But things don’t go exactly as planned.
“Mears returns to his hometown to write a book about the Marsten House, a supposedly haunted house that overlooks the town,” states a description on IMDb. “However, he discovers that the owner of the mansion is actually a vampire who is turning the townspeople into an undead army.”
Much of the new version was filmed in Massachusetts, giving the production a true New England feel. According to Wikipedia, the following locations were used in the film:
It was written in 1975. It was King’s second novel, released after his classic, “Carrie.”
The original version of “Salem’s Lot” is can be rented on Prime TV and Apple TV and is available with a subscription on HBO Max, according to Roku.
