Sumit Antil claimed his second consecutive Paralympic gold in javelin, breaking his own record with a throw of 70.59m.
Nishad Kumar continued his remarkable Paralympic journey by securing his second consecutive silver medal in high jump (T47) at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. With a season’s best jump of 2.04m, Nishad matched his silver medal performance from Tokyo 2020, where he cleared 2.06m.
Manish Narwal, the Tokyo gold medallist in shooting, demonstrated exceptional grit in the men’s 10m air pistol (SH1) final, clinching silver in Paris. The 22-year-old, who previously won gold in the 50m pistol event, was determined to replicate his Tokyo success but fell just short.
Yogesh Kathuniya also earned silver in men’s discus throw F56, with a season-best 42.22m throw at Stade de France, adding to his silver from Tokyo.
In women’s singles SU5 badminton, Thulasimathi Murugesan fought valiantly but ultimately took silver, losing to China’s Yang Qiuxia in straight sets, 21-17, 21-10.
Suhas Yathiraj secured silver in men’s singles SL4 badminton, falling to France’s Lucas Mazur in a dominant performance.
In mixed team compound archery, Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar won bronze, narrowly defeating Italy’s Sarti and Bonacina 156-155 after a close semifinal loss.
Manisha Ramadass earned a bronze medal in women’s singles SU5 badminton at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, defeating Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren 21-12, 21-8 in just 25 minutes. The 19-year-old displayed remarkable skill and composure throughout the match.
Nithya Sri Sivan also secured bronze in the SH6 badminton category, overcoming Indonesia’s Rina Marlina with scores of 21-14, 21-6 on September 2.
Preeti Pal made history as the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic track and field medals. She clinched bronze in the 200m T-35 race with a personal best of 30.01 seconds, adding to the bronze she won in the Women’s T35 100m race with a time of 14.21 seconds.
Indian para-sprinter Deepthi Jeevanji won bronze in the women’s 400m T20 final, bringing India’s medal tally to 16 at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
In the men’s high jump T46 final, Sharad Kumar earned silver with a 1.88m leap, and Mariyappan Thangavelu took bronze with 1.85m. American Ezra Frech won gold with a Paralympic record 1.94m.
Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar secured silver and bronze, respectively, in the men’s javelin throw F46, with Ajeet’s personal best of 65.62m and Sundar’s season-best of 64.96m.
