The 96-year-old leader had been admitted on Wednesday, immediately after a brief stay at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Advani underwent a comprehensive evaluation by a team of specialists in urology, cardiology, and geriatric medicine.
Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi (now in Pakistan), Advani was awarded the Bharat Ratna by President Draupadi Murmu on March 30, 2024. He initially worked as Assistant Editor for the Organiser in 1960 before fully dedicating himself to politics in 1967.
As BJP president from 1986 onwards, he supported the VHP’s Ram Temple demand and led the party until 1990, then again from 1993 to 1998, and from 2004 to 2005. Advani stepped down from all party positions in 2013 following Narendra Modi’s selection to lead the BJP’s 2014 election campaign.
Advani’s political journey began with the RSS as a swayamsevak in 1942, and he entered parliament as a Rajya Sabha member in 1970. His first Lok Sabha election victory was in 1989 from New Delhi, where he defeated Mohini Giri.
